北方豬尾獼猴分布於馬來半島、緬甸和蘇門答臘，是日行性群居性動物，為母系社會。尾巴像豬尾巴，頭頂平且有深褐色毛髮由頭頂中央向四方分散，又稱為平頂猴，眼角有紅色細紋。 主要靠視覺溝通，觸覺其次而聽覺輔助。常被訓練採椰子，又稱椰子猴。有個特殊的臉部表情，叫(pucker)皺眉，表示挑釁或有意圖攻擊。豬尾獼猴是HIV(AIDS病毒)的重要實驗動物。 The northern pig-tailed macaque has a short tail like a pig and a flat head with dark hair. They are often trained to pluck coconuts. The northern pig-tailed macaque always shows pucker face when provokes or intends to attack.
