公羚羊約4歲性成熟，母羚羊1~3歲性成熟，無特定發情期，雨季為產子期。懷孕期約9個月，每胎產1仔。

Characteristics and Habits

伊蘭羚分布於東非及南非草原，是日行性群居動物。母羚體重可達600公斤，公羚可達1000公斤，又叫做大羚羊。公羊前額的毛髮很密，喉袋很大，公母都有角，母羚角較為細長。伊蘭羚看似笨重，卻能輕易地躍過1.5公尺高的圍欄。 公羚間有明顯階級區分，尤其在繁殖期間常有激烈打鬥。為了尋找食物來源及適合棲地，會有大規模遷徙行為，獅子為主要天敵。 The common eland has a huge body, with males that can weigh up to 1000kg. The males' forehead is very hairy, and they have a large fold of loose skin on their throats. Both males and females have horns, but the female's horns are thinner and longer. These animals may look heavy, but they can jump over 1.5 meters high.
